The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today announced grants to three countries totaling $17.5 million to help ensure that people in Botswana, Latvia, and Lithuania have the opportunity to benefit from the latest information and training available on computers and the Internet.

For the sixth time already the Lithuanian Librarians Association (LLA) is inviting to celebrate the ultimate move of solidarity of Lithuanian librarians – the National Lithuanian Library Week that will take place on 23-30 April 2006.

The Annual Conference of the Lithuanian Librarians’ Association will take place in the Concert Hall 5.1 of the LITEXPO Exhibition Centre (Laisvės Ave 5) on 23 February 2006.

In early 2006, the main Library departments invited the visitors to the new premises that were reconstructed and adapted to the library services using the funds of the State Investment Programme. The city’s municipality has also allocated some funds for the new furniture and computer hardware update. Consequently, the Library’s premises have grown from 300 sq. m. to 1,400 sq. m.

On the initiative of the Lithuanian Librarians’ Association and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and M. Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania the CALIMERA Guidelines were published.
