County Public LibrariesAssociation
The County Public Libraries Association (CPLA) was established in 1998. Its objectives are as follows: cooperation in solving the relevant activity problems of county public libraries; representing and advocating interests of the members of the Association in Lithuanian and foreign institutions.
CPLA unites all five county (Kaunas, Klaipėda, Panevėžys, Šiauliai and Vilnius) public libraries. Following the annual activity plan of the Association, sittings, meetings, and conferences of member libraries take place where activity trends of county PLs are analyzed, problems are formulated and ways to solve the problems are pursued, joint declarations and resolutions are drafted on issues relevant to these and other Lithuanian libraries. Activities of CPLA provide favourable conditions for employee meetings, experience exchanges, consulting and drafting of joint projects.
The permanent office of the Association is located in Vilnius (Trakų St 10). Depending on which ACPL member takes the chair (by rotation), the office address and contact information changes accordingly.
Since 2002, CPLA has been chaired by Alvydas Samėnas, the Director of Kaunas County Public Library (address: Radastų St. 2, LT-44164 Kaunas, Tel: 8~37 32 42 52, Fax: 8~37 32 42 50, e-mail: info@kvb.lt)
