About the library
The Library was established in 1936. Since 1944, the Library is receiving the legal deposits of new publications.
With years Jurbarkas libraries have experienced various reforms and changes such as decrease in the number of branches and structural changes of the central library.
At present, the Library has 1 city and 26 village branches. In late 2004, collection of the whole library system constituted 317,766 documents with 75,165 copies in Jurbarkas Public Library. Periodicals and fiction form a considerable part of the collection – 12.8% and 60.2% respectively.
The Library stores a valuable book collection of emigration poet Stasys Santvaras, native of Rūstekonys village (Seredžius sub-district, Jurbarkas district).
