About the library

The Library was established in 1936. The Library’s structure has changed more than once.
Currently it has the Reader’s Service, Acquisition and Children’s Literature Departments. The Library has 24 branches. The collection of the district libraries amounts to 294 thousand documents. Kaišiadorys Public Library has 97 thousand prints and subscribes for 117 periodical titles.
The Library has implemented several projects financed by the Open Society Fund Lithuania, the Ministry of Culture, and the Information Centre of the European Commission’s Delegation to Lithuania.
In 2002, the Information & Internet reading-room was opened at the Library. The Library hosts various events and collects material about Kaišiadorys region and people. Gija Literary Club meets at the Library that is engaged in literary and publishing activities.
