About the library

The Library was established in 1937. Its subordination has changed for several times. Since mid-1996, it became a Kalvarija branch of Marijampolė District Library Centre. In 2000, Public Library of Kalvarija Municipality was established with 12 village branches.
The Library stores a general document collection meeting the needs of municipal residents. 30,432 documents were stored here in early 2005. 80 periodical titles are subscribed, and the regional material is collected. The Library hosts various events and cooperates with Rasa Literary Club. The Library’s visual events are especially diverse: exhibitions of prints, photographs, drawings, hand-made works, wood carvings, papercuts and bouquets are organised.
