About the library
The beginning of the State Public Library of Kazlų Rūda dates back to the years of independent Lithuania, when various associations and organisations had their own small libraries or bookshops.
Kazlų Rūda district library was established in late 1940; it was transferred the forfeit books from the nationalized libraries of such organisations as the Young Lithuanians, riflemen squad, Kazlų Rūda Roman Catholic Parish, etc. Subordination of the Library has changed for several times; nevertheless, the traditions of good user services were always cherished.

In 2000, Kazlų Rūda Municipality was established. Being the branch of the Library Centre of the Department of Culture, Education and Sports of Marijampolė district by then, the Library became the Public Library of Kazlų Rūda Municipality. At present, the Library has a stock of 28,447 publications; the stock of the branches consists of 70,314 documents with books constituting the majority. The Library collects audio documents for the blind and visually impaired users. The users may use the Internet.
