About the library
Radviliškis State Public Library was established in 1937. In 1951, the District Children’s Library was established. In 1974, the Public Library was transferred to the new premises in S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno St 9.
In 1976, the libraries of the district were centralized. The Public Library has become a central library with 46 village and 2 city branches. In 1990, the school libraries of the district were incorporated into the centralized system.
In 1995, the Central Library was granted the name of pubic library. In 2005, the centralized library system comprised a public library, 3 city branches and 32 village branches. In 2004, the Public Library had 4,157 readers; its document stock constituted 104,556 copies of print documents.
In December 2004, renovation of the Library building and construction of the annex has been started.
The Public Library carries out projects, publishing activities and regional studies successfully.
Its mission is to provide knowledge and information of all types; to ensure access to electronic catalogues and reference data bases of other libraries; to help users to find, select and assess the available sources of information.
The readers and visitors are served in the Adult and Children Lending Departments, Periodicals and Internet reading-rooms, Audio library and Toy library.
